AABI Torch Entrepreneur Awards 2021

WHAT’S ABOUT

The Asian Association of Business Incubation (AABI) is an international nonprofit association that focuses on building an incubation ecosystem in the Asia-Pacific region. Sponsored by Shanghai Technology Innovation Center and Torch High Technology Industry Development Center, Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the AABI Torch Entrepreneur Awards are set to promote commercial activities in the Asia-Pacific region by honoring outstanding entrepreneurs. Currently, the AABI Torch Entrepreneur Awards have three categories of awards to recognize the achievements of enterprises in different innovation facets:

AABI Torch Award for Technology Transfer - 2 winners

AABI Torch Award for Internationalization - 2 winners

AABI Torch Award for Promising Entrepreneur – 2 winners

The Nominee Award

AABI Torch Award for Best Nominee

(In principle, each AABI country/region is entitled to one AABI Torch Award for Best Nominee for one company, and only if the company is recommended by AABI Association Member of this country/region in the first place and has not been the winner of AABI Torch Entrepreneur Awards.)

WHO CAN APPLY

Enterprises from AABI economies meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply for AABI Torch Entrepreneur Awards.

The enterprise shall either be currently tenanted in the recommending incubator or have graduated from the same recommending incubator.

The enterprise shall either have already been involved in international cooperation or at least have a clear target market for global expansion.

The enterprise shall be equipped with strong developing capability, high technical grade, legal property rights, and integrated procedures.)

4

The enterprise shall have been established for no longer than 8 years.

5

The enterprise shall have at least one IP (no restrictions on the specific IP categories, but it should be approved and recognized by local or international formal IP management agencies).

The enterprise’s turnover of the last year should be no higher than USD 50 million.

The enterprise shall not be the previous winner of AABI Torch Best Entrepreneur Award.

The previous winners of AABI Torch Award for Technology Transfer, AABI Torch Award for Internationalization, AABI Torch Award for Promising Entrepreneur shall not be the candidate for AABI Torch Best Entrepreneur Award for the following two years since the year that the enterprises win any of the three kinds of Distinctive Awards.

WHAT CAN BE EXPECTED

Enterprises from AABI economies meeting the following criteria are eligible to apply for AABI Torch Entrepreneur Awards.

Grant:

$ 10,000 for the winner of AABI Torch Best Entrepreneur Award

$ 1,000 for each of the winners of AABI Distinctive Awards

(Please find more details in the “Grant Claiming Guidelines for AABI Torch Entrepreneur Awards”.)

A complimentary seat will be reserved at AABI General Assembly

Publicity and promotion of the winners across all AABI channels will follow with significant recognition and international influence

TIMELINE & PROCEDURE
By August 15, Application by Enterprises

Please submit the application online on AABI website:

By August 31, Recommendation by AABI Association Members

No matter how many enterprises from certain country/region submit the application, each AABI Association Member from the country/region will finally confirm 3 recommendations. The winners of AABI Torch Entrepreneur Awards will be selected out from the enterprises recommended by AABI Association Members.

Please check the AABI Association Members eligible for recommendations in your country or region through AABI website or contact AABI secretariat via email.

By September 30, Evaluation by AABI Judge Committee

All candidates will be carefully assessed based on the following criteria by AABI Judge Committee:

The application form consists of A) Entrepreneur Information [35 points], B) Company Profile [35 points], C) Recommendation from Incubator [20 points] and D) Attached Materials [10 points].

The information collected in this form may be used for publicity of Awards winners or further research on business incubation; hence, applicants are advised to give a non-confidential but cut-to-the-point description to reflect your strength and potentiality and to increase your chance of winning! Upon any event of publicizing specific information, the AABI secretariat will contact the entrepreneur and/or the company and/or the incubator in advance.
